CoreConnect, a flagship product by VentureOne, the commercialization arm of the Advanced Technology Research Council, acts as the digital glue within the complex ecosystem of autonomous mobility in logistics.

CoreConnect is building the infrastructure layer for autonomous operations in complex ecosystems. We develop a robot orchestration platform that enables logistics and other operators to deploy, manage, and scale fleets of autonomous robots across real-world environments. Our technology sits at the intersection of robotics, operations software, and intelligent automation, and we're just getting started.

Role Overview

We're looking for a Senior Software Engineer (Backend) who cares deeply about system
reliability, product impact, and solving difficult real-world engineering problems.
You'll be a key contributor to CoreConnect, building and evolving the backend services
that power our commercial ecosystem and coordinate complex autonomous operations.
We value engineers who operate with a high degree of autonomy, technical pragmatism,
and ownership. You'll work in an environment where priorities can move quickly, problems
are not always clearly defined, and strong engineering judgement matters as much as
knowing the right architectural terminology.
Deep, practical experience with Java/Kotlin and Spring Boot is essential. We're moving
quickly and need engineers who can contribute meaningfully to our core stack from the
start

Key Responsibilities

• Design systems that coordinate long-running, concurrent workflows while
  remaining reliable through retries, duplicate events, partial failures, and unreliable
  external systems.
  • Build integrations with vehicle manufacturers, fleet platforms, and delivery
  partners, turning inconsistent external APIs into dependable product capabilities.
  • Develop and evolve scalable backend APIs that serve as a primary interface across
  the CoreConnect ecosystem.
  • Work on real-time data flows and high-frequency vehicle communication using
  technologies such as MQTT and WebSockets.
  • Help strengthen platform security, access control, observability, and multi-tenant
  capabilities as the product scales.
  • Work closely with customers, operators, product, and engineering teams to
  understand what happens in the real world and turn those insights into pragmatic
  technical decisions.
  • Contribute to architecture and design discussions, thoughtful code reviews,
  mentoring, and learning from production incidents.
  • Help shape our engineering standards, architecture, and ways of working as both
  the platform and team continue to grow.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional software engineering experience delivering well-tested,
  complex systems, ideally within a SaaS, startup, or similarly fast-moving
  environment.
  • Deep, practical experience with Java/Kotlin and Spring Boot, with the ability to
  contribute effectively from the start.
  • Strong computer science fundamentals and practical experience building
  distributed systems.
  • Experience dealing with the realities of distributed systems, including concurrency,
  retries, duplicate events, data consistency, partial failures, and unreliable
  dependencies.
  • Strong experience designing and building scalable APIs and backend services.
  • Proficiency with PostgreSQL, with experience working with complex data models
  and high-volume systems.

  • Experience building integrations with third-party systems and external APIs.
  • A pragmatic engineering mindset. You understand when to invest in architecture
  and when to make sensible trade-offs to keep the product moving.
  • Strong product instincts and an interest in understanding the real-world problems
  behind the software you're building.
  • The ability to operate effectively in ambiguity, make progress without perfect
  information, and take ownership of problems from development through
  production.
  • Experience using AI-assisted development tools to prototype, explore, and move
  faster while maintaining full ownership of the quality and correctness of the code
  you commit.
  • Strong communication skills and fluency in Business English.
  • A collaborative mindset and an interest in working closely with the team in person.
  We're based on Yas Island, Abu Dhabi, and typically work from the office four days
  a week

Nice to have

• Experience with PostGIS, GIS, or other geospatial data systems.
• Experience working with time-series data or TimescaleDB.
• Experience architecting low-latency or real-time communication using
  WebSockets and MQTT.
• Experience with Kubernetes, AWS, EKS, Terraform, or similar cloud infrastructure.
• Experience with platform observability, automated testing, security tooling, SAST,
  or DAST.
• Practical experience with React/Next.js or an understanding of how backend
  architecture impacts frontend product experiences.
• Previous experience in logistics, robotics, autonomous systems, fleet
  management, or operational technology.
