What will I be doing?

As a Staff Release Engineer, you will set the technical strategy and global architecture for Kaluza’s continuous integration, delivery, and automated release ecosystems. You will empower our entire engineering organization to deploy high-quality software safely, frequently, and with minimal friction.

  • Architect Release Ecosystems: Lead the high-level design and long-term roadmap definition for building, scaling, and governing the systems and practices that reliably move software from source to production through centralized developer tooling across all Kaluza engineering domains.
  • Drive Engineering Productivity & SRE Practices: Strategize and embed automated deployment & release mechanisms, testing frameworks, Site Reliability Engineering principles and AI tooling to drastically reduce toil and accelerate software delivery speed and safety across the organization.
  • Establish Global Standards & Metrics: Lead the definition, continuous improvement and enforcement of company-wide DevOps practices, standards, and frameworks such as DORA for compliance and auditability but also to measure and target improvements that elevate engineering productivity.
  • Orchestrate Complex Infrastructure Tooling: Own the strategy for deployment platforms and infrastructure-as-code tools (e.g., GitHub Actions, Terraform, AWS, Kubernetes, ArgoCD), ensuring multi-tenant SaaS environments are secure, scalable, and efficient.
  • Mentor & Upskill: Provide technical ownership, guidance, and mentorship to engineers across Kaluza, fostering deep expertise in automated delivery, developer experience, and modern release engineering practices including AI enablement.
  • Hands-off & Hands-on Technical Leadership: Drive platform-wide release architecture through audits and strategic design, while retaining the capability to build high-impact proofs-of-concept for mission-critical release infrastructure.

About You

Ideally you'll have/be:

  • Strategic CI/CD & Release Architect: Deep experience architecting, scaling, and maintaining enterprise-grade CI/CD frameworks, release pipelines, and internal developer platforms in cloud-native environments.
  • DevOps & DORA Expert: Comprehensive mastery of DevOps practices, software development lifecycle (SDLC) automation, and practical application of DORA metrics to drive measurable engineering productivity.
  • Technical Mentor & Leader: A proven track record of upskilling senior engineering talent, driving technical strategy, and establishing consensus across multi-disciplinary engineering domains.
  • Infrastructure & Automation Mastery: Extensive hands-on experience with cloud infrastructure (AWS), Infrastructure as Code (Terraform), container orchestration (Kubernetes, ArgoCD), and workflow automation (GitHub Actions). Experience of GitHub Enterprise administration and GitHubAsCode experience would be a bonus.
  • Developer-Centric & Data-Driven: Strong customer obsession—viewing developers as your primary customers—paired with data-driven decision-making to optimize developer experience and eliminate toil.

What will set you apart:

  • LLM Integration Experience: Hands-on experience integrating large language models into production applications or developer workflows, whether via APIs (e.g., OpenAI, Anthropic, AWS Bedrock) or open-source models, with a solid understanding of prompt engineering, context management, and evaluation.
  • AI Tooling Advocacy: A track record of introducing AI-assisted developer tooling and workflows (e.g., Copilot, Cursor, Claude, or similar) into a team and upskilling colleagues, not just using it personally.
  • Enterprise Release Strategy & Domain Exposure: Experience designing, building, and governance-proofing release architectures specifically for enterprise clients or highly regulated global platforms, ideally with direct domain exposure to energy technology, smart device orchestration, billing SaaS platforms, or high-throughput IoT platforms.
