Structural Analysis Engineer at ClearSpace

ClearSpace is hiring a Structural Analysis Engineer in Luxembourg. On-site.

About ClearSpace

ClearSpace designs and operates spacecraft for in-orbit inspection and servicing of satellites. The company's spacecraft can approach assets closely to detect anomalies such as micrometeoroid impacts or thermal delamination, reducing mission risk and operational costs. ClearSpace also highlights the lack of debris-removal and towing capabilities in space, comparing it to a road network without tow trucks.

Structural Analysis Engineer job description

At ClearSpace, we believe in reusability, in affordability driving disruption, and that no progress is real unless it is sustainable.

Our company was founded in 2018 out of the realization that in-orbit servicing and space debris removal are vital services for the future of space exploration and operations. Today ClearSpace has assembled an expert engineering team and is leading the way toward sustainable space operations. From a garage in Switzerland, we now operate across UK and Europe, and are working with world-leading institutions and companies to bring our dream of a sustainable space ecosystem to life.

  • Performing first order sizing calculations for the mechanical systems.
  • Evaluating concepts for space systems, including satellite structures and subsystems, and critically assess their design.
  • Conducting mechanical design trade studies that balance performance margins, resources and are within the programmatic constraints (risk, schedule, cost).
  • Maintaining technical requirements, activity schedule, budget and status.
  • Managing the mechanical work packages / projects and support the planning of the activities in line with requirements.
  • Definition and execution of test campaigns; including analysis of test results.
  • Producing and reviewing reports and technical documentation.

  • Good knowledge of using SolidWorks (or other CAD software).
  • Thorough understanding of design involvement in planning, executing and evaluating results from environmental tests.
  • Able to demonstrate technical leadership and work as part of a project team.
  • (BSc/MSc) Degree in mechanical engineering or relevant engineering / science discipline
