Signal 1 is a startup that provides a technology platform to help health systems adopt artificial intelligence. Its first product, the AI Management System (AIMS), gives health system leaders visibility and control over their AI portfolios, covering predictive and generative AI applications and adding guardrails to reduce risks. The company is expanding into agent management to support agentic AI in healthcare. Signal 1 has about 30 employees and deployments at a growing number of top-20 US and Canadian health systems. It was founded by Tomi Poutanen and Mara Lederman with early backing from Geoffrey Hinton.
