About EON+ AI
EON is building a space-based data transfer network using free-space laser links between satellites in Medium Earth Orbit, providing dedicated point-to-point data transfer capacity as an alternative to subsea or terrestrial fiber. The service targets Earth's critical infrastructure and customers needing faster, more secure data transfer without the long lead times of traditional cable deployment.
Director of Strategic Enterprise Sales job description
About EON
EON is building the highest-throughput point-to-point data transport network ever deployed in space. Using free-space laser links in Medium Earth Orbit (MEO), we move petabytes of data between any two points on Earth as an alternative to subsea or terrestrial fiber. EON recently closed a $10.75M seed financing round led by Andreessen Horowitz and General Catalyst in their first-ever co-led space deal. EON is building out of its R&D center in Culver City.
Today, approximately 95% of the global internet travels through a few hundred subsea fiber-optic cables, infrastructure designed in the early 2000s that has gone largely unchanged. Demand for new fiber has never been higher, but laying it is extraordinarily difficult: permits, ocean geology, and geopolitical boundaries make every new cable a years-long, billion-dollar undertaking. That bottleneck is a liability with cables at constant risk of being cut, whether by accident or adversarial action, and no amount of ground-based investment can fully solve it.
The Role
EON is hiring a dedicated commercial hire to build and close EON's early wholesale capacity pipeline. At a high level, you will be directly responsible for selling to key customers and partners. You'll own the full cycle, from account targeting through contract close, working directly with EON's founders and technical team to translate satellite and capacity specs into commercial terms buyers can act on.
Responsibilities
Build and run outbound motion into named accounts across hyperscalers, enterprises, CDNs, NeoClouds, and regional carriers
Develop and iterate on route-specific pricing and packaging
Lead technical/commercial conversations that position satellite lasercom as a resilience layer for existing fiber
Negotiate and close reservation agreements for commercial capacity
Partner with EON's technical team to convert specs (wavelength handoffs and per-city-pair capacity) into commercially compelling terms
Represent EON in front of hyperscaler network procurement teams, sovereign/government buyers, and carrier partners, and at relevant industry events
Feed market and buyer feedback back into pricing, route prioritization, and product positioning
Basic Qualifications
7+ years selling wholesale capacity, subsea cable, dark fiber, spectrum, or carrier-grade network services
Track record closing large, multi-year contracts (not high-velocity/high-volume deals)
Comfortable running a consultative, technical sale with network architects and engineers in the room, not just procurement
Able to translate technical infrastructure specs into business terms for both technical and executive audiences
Preferred Experience
Experience working with:
Hyperscalers (AWS, Microsoft, Google) — network architecture and capacity planning teams evaluating route diversity and resilience for critical infrastructure
NeoClouds & AI infrastructure providers — compute-first buyers looking to unlock bandwidth for AI training and inference workloads
Carriers, CDNs & edge providers — POP- and peering-driven buyers focused on edge continuity and route resilience
Experience selling into AI/GPU infrastructure buyers or NeoClouds
Experience with sovereign, government, or defense communications procurement
Existing relationships with network or capacity planning teams at major hyperscalers
Startup or early-stage experience: building process where none exists, working directly with founders
What this job is really like
We're a seed-stage company building toward first light on a single-route demonstrator. There's no sales team, no CRM built out, and no playbook waiting for you — you'll be writing it. You'll work directly with the founders on pricing, positioning, and which markets to prioritize next, and you'll be in the room translating specs from the optical and space systems teams into terms a hyperscaler's procurement desk can sign off on. If you want a fully-built pipeline and a defined territory, this isn't it. If you want to build the commercial motion for a category that doesn't have an incumbent yet, this is it.
A note on level and background: This role is being hired at the Director level, but we calibrate scope and compensation to experience — if your background is a strong fit but your title history doesn't match, still reach out. We are always looking for exceptional people from many disciplines.
Location: Culver City, CA (hybrid -- travel required for customer meetings)
