Director of Product Insights job description

About ULTRA ⚡

ULTRA is the world’s leading nicotine-free functional pouch brand and one of the fastest-growing companies in consumer wellness. Our mission is to build the category-defining portfolio of functional oral pouches that help people focus, sleep, recover, and perform better without nicotine or tobacco.

We’re looking for someone who is obsessed with understanding how customers interact with products and translating those insights into better products, stronger customer experiences, and faster innovation.

Position Summary 🚀

This is not a traditional Consumer Insights role.

We’re looking for someone who sits at the intersection of Product, R&D, Marketing, and Customer Insights and uses customer behavior, product feedback, experimentation, and data to determine what we should build next.

You’ll own the process of identifying product opportunities, validating hypotheses, prioritizing product improvements, and helping our teams make smarter decisions about flavors, formulations, packaging, subscriptions, and future product launches.

Rather than simply reporting what customers think, you’ll determine what questions we should be asking, how to answer them, and what actions we should take as a result.

What You’ll Do 💼

• Become the internal expert on how customers experience ULTRA’s products across acquisition, onboarding, usage, subscription, and retention.

• Build systems for collecting and synthesizing customer feedback through interviews, surveys, reviews, support tickets, social listening, and behavioral data.

• Partner closely with Product Development and R&D to identify opportunities to improve formulations, flavors, packaging, and future product concepts.

• Design and execute research that answers specific product questions, including concept testing, sensory research, pricing, messaging, and customer experience.

• Develop hypotheses, identify missing data, and build experiments that validate product decisions before launch.

• Translate customer insights into prioritized product recommendations with clear business impact.

• Analyze Shopify, Amazon, subscription, and first-party customer data to identify behavioral trends and opportunities.

• Build repeatable dashboards, reporting, and learning systems that make customer feedback actionable across the organization.

• Partner cross-functionally with Marketing, Product, Operations, and Leadership to ensure customer insights directly influence business decisions.

• Help define the product roadmap by identifying the highest-impact opportunities for innovation and iteration.

What We’re Looking For ❓

• 6-10+ years of experience in Product Management, Product Strategy, Consumer Insights, Product Innovation, Product Development, or a related function within a high-growth consumer brand.

• Experience partnering closely with Product Development, R&D, and Marketing to launch and improve physical consumer products.

• Strong qualitative and quantitative research skills, including customer interviews, concept testing, surveys, and behavioral analysis.

• Comfortable using imperfect data to develop hypotheses and recommend next steps.

• Experience translating customer feedback into tangible product improvements.

• Entrepreneurial mindset with a bias toward action and experimentation.

• Comfortable building new processes and operating with limited structure.

• Excellent communication skills with the ability to simplify complex findings into clear recommendations.

• Experience within functional wellness, supplements, beverages, food, health, or adjacent consumer categories is strongly preferred.

Success in this Role 🎯

After your first 6-12 months, you will have:

• Built a scalable customer insights capability from the ground up.

• Established ongoing customer feedback loops across every major product.

• Identified and prioritized product improvements that directly influence our roadmap.

• Helped launch new flavors and products informed by customer insights.

• Created a repeatable process for testing hypotheses and validating product decisions before launch.

• Become the trusted partner to Product, R&D, and Marketing on what we should build next.
