NEX Aero is developing autonomous heavy-lift cargo drones (vertical take-off and landing) for offshore and maritime logistics. The aircraft can carry up to 100 kg of time-critical cargo to ships, offshore platforms, and remote sites, and is designed to operate in salt water, wind, and on moving decks. The company is initially focusing on missions such as resupplying vessels and delivering parts to wind farms, and plans to expand into inland logistics.

About the role
As a Working Student in Electrical Engineering & Power Electronics, you will support the development and validation of electronic components for UAV platforms. Working closely with mechanical, electrical, hardware and software engineers, you will contribute to electronic system development, integration, testing and flight test activities, gaining hands-on experience from concept development through real-world validation.
Your responsibilities
- Support the design, simulation and validation of embedded and power electronics for UAV systems
- Assist in the development, assembly and testing of prototype electronic hardware, including motor controllers, interface boards and supporting electronics
- Contribute to schematic design, PCB layout, PCB design reviews, board bring-up, debugging and validation of electronic systems
- Assist in laboratory, bench and propulsion testing activities, including instrumentation, data collection and analysis
- Support the integration of electronic systems into UAV platforms, working closely with mechanical and software teams
- Contribute to wiring, soldering, assembly, rework and troubleshooting of prototype hardware and UAV subsystems
- Support flight test activities, including preparation, execution, data collection and analysis
- Document hardware, software, assumptions and results to support development, validation and knowledge transfer
Your profile
- Currently enrolled in a bachelor’s or master’s degree in electrical engineering, or a related field
- Strong interest in Electrical Engineering, Power Electronics and UAVs
- Hands-on mentality with the ability and willingness to assemble, wire, solder, test and troubleshoot prototype hardware
- Interest in developing, testing and improving prototype hardware for real-world flight applications
- Experience with laboratory equipment such as oscilloscopes, power supplies and multimeters is a plus
- Experience with Altium Designer and PCB development is a plus
- Initial programming experience in C/C++ or willingness to learn and apply it in embedded electronics.
- Independent, proactive, and technically curious, comfortable navigating ambiguity and taking ownership of complex problems
- Strong communication skills and fluency in English
