Junior Fashion Designer job description
Our mission is to accelerate the progress of the fashion ecosystem. For the brands that make it. For the factories that build it. We are a B2B fashion supply chain company on that path to a billion dollars in sales by 2030, already designing and making for some of the largest brands in fashion, from Inditex in Spain to Next in the UK. Design is where it starts: what our designers draw in Dhaka is what a brand touches at our Design Lab and orders for next season. We are hiring a Junior Fashion Designer in Dhaka: a designer with a year or two of real product behind them, who wants to design across categories, sit next to the people who make the sample, and see their work in stores fast. This is a builder’s seat, not a sketchbook job. If you live to make, read on.
READ THIS BEFORE YOU APPLY
We hire for the work and the wiring, not the CV. You already have a year or more of shipping real product somewhere, and a portfolio that shows it. What we look for on top is hunger, pace, and taste that sells. If you want a calm studio and a nine-to-five, this is not it. If you want to make a lot, fast, for brands that buy, it is.
THE ROLE
Concept to made sample, across categories, at startup speed. You make what wins the reorder.
Nitex is a design-forward fashion supply chain platform. We give brands fresh designs, no minimum order quantity, fast and compliant manufacturing, and real-time visibility into production. We design and make for major brands including Inditex and Next. Our Dhaka studio sits with the people who make the sample: product development, the sample section, pattern makers, 3D technicians, garment tech and material sourcing. A concept becomes a sample here in days, not months.
You design across more than one product category, which most junior designers never get to do: jersey, wovens, dresses, and more as you grow. You take each from concept to a made sample: trend and fabric research, ranges, tech packs, and the back-and-forth with the sample team until it is right. Every design has to hit cost, feasibility and lead-time targets. The styles you make are what brands pick at our Design Lab and what wins the reorder. You report to the Design Lead in Dhaka and you learn by making, next to the people who make.
What you will actually do
- Design commercial, trend-led product across more than one category for UK and European brands, from concept to production-ready.
- Research seasonal trends, colours, fabrics, washes and silhouettes for the European market, and turn the research into ranges a buyer can pick from.
- Build clear flat sketches and accurate tech packs, and drive each design through product development and the sample section on fit, fabric and cost.
- Walk the local fabric and trim markets with material sourcing to find seasonal materials for new product development.
- Own the sampling loop: fit, wash, styling and quality checks, until the sample is right and on cost.
- Prepare showrooms and collections for brand visits, and work with the Account and Business teams to put the right styles in front of the right buyer.
- Work day to day in our internal platform, Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop. AI tools such as Nano Banana and Midjourney are a plus.
Why this seat is different
Design here is not a mood board. It is taste, production reality and startup speed at once. Your work has to be beautiful, sell, cost right and ship on time. Most junior designers spend years drawing one category for someone else’s line sheet, far from the factory. Here you design several, next to the people who cut and sew, and a brand can touch what you drew this week and order it the next. We want a designer who is energised by that pace, not crushed by it. Get good fast, and you will not be junior for long.
Who you work with
The Design Lead in Dhaka, who sets your briefs and reviews your work. Product development, the sample section, pattern makers, 3D technicians and garment tech, who turn your tech pack into a garment. Material sourcing, who walk the fabric market with you. The Account and Business teams, who put your styles in front of the buyer. And the brands themselves, at the Design Lab, who pick what they will order. Every one of them will tell you the truth about your work, fast, and that is the point.
WHAT WE MAKE
Fresh designs all the time, no minimum order, samples in days. What you draw this week, a brand can touch and order the next.
WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR
We hire for the work and the wiring first. The CV comes second.
The mindset, non-negotiable
- Steady under pressure. Tight timelines, fast revisions, constant back-and-forth with the sample team to get it right. You get sharper when it speeds up, not slower. This is the trait we screen hardest for.
- Hungry. You want to make a lot, learn fast and see your work in stores. Many of our best come from sport, side projects, or building their own label.
- A maker who ships. You finish. A concept goes all the way to a production-ready, on-cost design, not a beautiful idea that never leaves the sketchbook.
- Commercial taste. You design what sells, to a price and a customer, not only what wins applause. Beautiful and buyable.
- Ownership, end to end. You own the fit, the cost, the timeline and the reorder. When something is stuck in materials or sampling, you unstick it instead of handing it off and waiting.
- High energy, high urgency. The sample room runs on today, not next week, and so do you.
- Humble and coachable. You take hard feedback on your work and get better fast.
The kind of background that fits
This is a junior seat, not a first job. We want at least a year of real product behind you and a portfolio that proves it:
- One to two years designing at a fashion brand, a supplier, a buying house or a studio, with product that went into production, not only coursework.
- Some familiarity with the whole loop already: a tech pack you built, a sample you fitted, a fabric you sourced, a style that sold.
- Fluent in Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop. Good with flats, tech packs and colour.
- A working understanding of fabrics, fits, washes, prints and embroidery, and what each costs to make.
- Good English, written and spoken. You will work with brands in the UK and Europe and with teams across three cities.
- Based in Dhaka, or ready to be. The sample team is here, and so is this seat.
Do not apply if
- You are a fresh graduate with no production behind you yet. Come back in a year with a shipped range.
- You need a calm studio and plenty of time. Here the timelines are tight and the revisions are fast.
- You design for the applause, not for the customer who buys it. We make commercial product.
- You lose interest after the sketch and hand off the fit, cost and production. We finish what we start.
- You take feedback on your work personally instead of using it to get better.
- You want a nine-to-five. We move fast, the bar is high, and the work does not wait.
- You believe great design cannot be fast. We prove the opposite every week.
SUCCESS, REWARD, AND HOW TO APPLY
What good looks like, how you are paid, and what to send.
What success looks like
First 30 days: You know our products, customers and seasonal direction. You have walked the sample floor and the fabric market, and your first designs, aligned to brand DNA, are already in development.
By month 3: You take a brief to a production-ready tech pack on your own, your samples progress with little rework, and the sample section and material sourcing know you will be on the floor when it matters.
By month 6: You deliver commercial ranges that get picked at the Design Lab, own your sampling end to end, and carry your own styles with little oversight from the Design Lead.
How you are paid
A base that reflects the market and the role. As you prove yourself, your pay grows, and you earn ownership in what you build through stock. We pay for the work and we promote on it. No ceiling on a designer who ships.
How to apply
Do not send a CV alone. Send a link to your portfolio and short, specific answers to the four questions during you application. We look at the work and the answers first. A portfolio is required.
A NOTE ON HOW WE HIRE
Our process looks at the work, then the craft, then the mindset, and includes a real work test: you will take a brief to a flat and a tech pack with us, against the clock. We would rather hire a hungry designer with a coachable gap than a polished CV with a settled mindset. Send a portfolio link with your application.
